Violet C. Pergel is a Registered Clinical Social Worker, Registered Family Mediator, Registered Parent Coordinator and Arbitrator, and a Chartered Mediator. She graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario in 1993. She has worked as a therapist over 20 years, with the majority of her time spent in Community Mental Health Clinics in Alberta. She opened her private practice in 2005; sees children, teens, adults, families, couples, groups and businesses. Her office is one of the few companies in Medicine Hat that provides a wide range of services to her clients under one roof including Counselling/Therapy, Psychotherapy, Mediation, Divorce Coach, Child Specialist, Parenting Skills Training, Parent Coordination, and Personal Skill Development.
Violet was first trained in Mediation in 1990 during a practicum in the Community Mediation Services at Community Justice Initiative in Waterloo, Ontario. She has upgraded her Mediation training and has taken over 400 hours of training in Mediation since 2009. She has extensive experience with individuals in conflict and regularly teaches collaborative problem-solving skills to her clients. Violet formally expanded her private practice to include Mediation in 2009. She is a member of the Civil Mediation Roster Program in Medicine Hat, Family Justice Mediation Roster, Family Justice Brief Conflict Intervention Roster. She is on the Qualified List for Human Resources Department of the Alberta Government to provide mediation and alternative conflict resolutions services. She is a Registered Family Mediator with specialties in Parenting, & Separation and Divorce from the Alberta Family Mediation Society. In 2013, she received the designation of Registered Parent Coordinator and Arbitrator from the Alberta Family Mediation Society. She has taught Alternative Dispute Resolution at both Athabasca Univeristy as well as at Royal Roads University.
